    The Backwards Swallow

I know this is brought up quite a bit. So I just wanted to throw it out there. What are the dangers, if any, in the act of a BP swallowing it's food tail up opposed to head down.

    Thanks in advance!

    Re: The Backwards Swallow

I don't really see any dangers with a snake swallowing food backwards. It's just abnormal and can be a sign that the food's too small. Otherwise it's no big deal.

i've seen snakes swallow prey head first, tail first, and folded in half like a rat taco. and i have never once in almost 20 years ever seen any problem that could in any way be linked to how there food goes down. so if a snake wants to be an @ss muncher then i say by all means, munch away. lol

It only takes them longer to swallow however it's not a problem, it generally happens more often with young animals and those fed f/t.
