    As you can see, it's pretty much all personal choice. Generally I hear people say 1,500 grams, and 1,300 being the minimum for females (also their third winter). For males 500 grams to 600 grams they are ready to breed (also their second winter). Last year I successfully bred my male pastel at ~450 grams.

    I personally use a combo. Females their third winter at 1,500 grams. Males their second winter 600+ grams preferably. You take a chance of them not being sexually mature any smaller than that. Also them fasting or becoming ill from the stress. When I bred that pastel last year I put him in for 3 days and out for 2 weeks.
