My ZILLA HEATING MAT IS MAKING NOISE, is this abnormal? i need help ASAP
So i bought a Zilla heat mat that was intended for a 10-20 gallon tank a few days ago and i plugged it in and everything seemed fine but it started making strange noises. So i took it back the next day and exchanged it with another new one and the strange noise persisted. Is this normal? I had the mat and a ceramic bulb plugged into 1 outlet. So I experimented and plugged my ceramic 100W bulb into a surge protector (in the same outlet), and then plugged the mat straight into the outlet (not in the surge protector, but in the same outlet). The noise was reduced significantly but it still happens. what is the problem here?

Is it a slight buzzing sound every now and again? If so it is just the thermostat in the UTH that is cycling off and on. At least that is what the customer rep @ Zilla told me when I emailed them about mine doing that. They also said there is nothing to worry about that it was normal.

thats excellent information thank you. Yeah usually its a little noise every few minutes but there has been times where it has made noise for like 5 seconds at a time. I had a guy that is well versed in electricity look at it and he said with only 4 watts of power there is no reason to worry about fire.

I use a mat for hermit crabs for my spiny mice, and mine doesn't make any noise.
If it did, it would creep me out!
