A boring thread on the use of super glue :)
Hi BP forum
I am planning to upgrade the size of my humid hide, as my bp henry is growing at the rate of knots.
Ive got a good size plastic tub for an upgrade but its clear plastic, so i was planning on glueing some fake leaves to the sides to make it appealing and more secure for him.
So the question, is super glue safe to use in a bp tank?
Thanks
Matt

I would not use it incase the fumes once it gets warm might be harmful to your snake..I would look for another hide or see if the clear one bothers him at all.

If it's a thicker plastic you could definitely use a hot glue gun. I know they are a crafty item so most men probably don't have one lying around, but they are really inexpensive. The glue is pretty mild, but still very sticky. It's dries fairly quickly and cools down pretty quick as well so it would be safe within 10 minutes max.
I agree that the fumes from superglue might get out of control. Plus it's a mess and I always rip skin off my fingers when I use it I'm also not sure how it reacts when it's always wet. It may be fine, but I really don't know. The fumes are the main concern since BP's respiratory systems are somewhat fragile. You could also try silicon... that would work! It just takes several hours or days to dry to the point of being in wet areas.
If it's a really thin plastic you could use normal glue-like Elmers and glue construction paper to it. I'm not sure if it would be strong enough on plastic for rocks. Just don't use tape, it's a disaster for snakes and it will come unstuck in humidity.

I doubt it would release fumes once cured, but isn't super glue water soluble?
Most questions are answered here.

True. And yes I believe so....so eventually it would fall apart, not an option.
Nor is gluing construction paper, ignore me.
I'm thinking glue gun. That glue will basically hold through anything. I love my pink glue gun I believe it was only $5 with glue, and it also comes in white

My question would be why bother. We have lots of animals. All of them in clear plastic tubs. We put a hide in the ones that need it. Others hide under their paper or at the back of the rack. All of them do just fine. .
But if you insist on covering the tub buy the new plastic spray paint found at Wal-mart and paint them.

He lives in a tank which is covered on 3 sides, the covering up is for his new humid hide. I heard that it has o be opaque as they will feel more secure in there. Its clear plastic, so i thought i would do some handy art and craft and stick some fake leaves on, got loads lying around.
Thanks for your input.
