two together

so i have the two babies together how long do u think before i seperate them? their in a 20 long but iam thinking of building a cage for the other.in the 20l it dosent seem like a lot of room. their both balls and i just want them to be comfortable without stressing each other out both have hides but they seem to like to lie together. any feedback is greatly appreciated thanks

I would say separate them as soon as possible. Ball pythons are not social creatures, and when they are together in the same hide or spot in the enclosure, it is not because they 'like' being together, but they both want to be in the ideal spots in the tank. Also, a 20 long is big for a hatchling BP. My snake is about 18 inches long and is still in a 10 gallon for now, and he seems perfectly content. Eating properly, shedding properly, and generally being snakey. Hope I've helped .

Separate. All snakes, when housed together, can become cannibalistic. Not a pretty sight. I would either build or buy another enclosure/tub.

I recommend separating them immediately.

These animals only stress out each other in captivity. Cannibalism is possible, but there are other problems too.
If one gets sick, they both get sick; double the vet bills.
They don't benefit from each other in any way.
One will sit on the other showing a dominance relationship, which will stress the other out.
They will compete for the best areas in the cage.

It's stressful to them. They should be kept solitary after the first shed IMO.
