How I help fund my reptile hobby:

My first attempt at breeding this species. The male was a bit of a bummer. He only did the deed when he was literally pushed to the female. She was down....he was a dud. The end result: 8 post embryos and an eggsac full of numerous unfertilized eggs. Still, for a difficult to breed species and a first attempt. I'm quite pleased. I have another large girl I picked up from a local collector so hopefully she molts soon. The male is still making sperm webs so I'd love another shot before he's gone.

The eggs with legs are darkening now so a 1st instar molt should come soon.

Wow! That's a lot of spiders! How long does it take for them to grow up?

It depends on the species and sex. Some mature in as little as 1 year while others can take over 5. Males don't live as long as females either so there is a bit of variation based on that as well.

My wife is all about our snake. If I were to bring home one of those, I can guarentee the stock in Raid would jump up high due to her buying tons of it to get rid of the spiders!

Looks like you have a good hobby and you enjoy doing it. Gladly though I will stick to my sports memorbillia to fund my snakes!

They go through a couple molts and then they start eating and need to be separated. Failure to do so will result in a few slings being lost to cannibalism.
