    Repti Bark?

Hey,just wondering what are all of you guys and gals reviews on the substrate "repti bark" http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=...1t:429,r:1,s:0
Is this a good substrate for Ball pythons because holding humidity on aspen is like walking on clouds for me.So i just decided to switch over to something else. How is this repti bark? Has anyone ever tried it if so would you recommend it to me.If not ,then why.It looks as if it can hold humidity good and they have it at a great price in my local pet store. So please give me your feed back on repti bark. Thanks in advance!

    ps.
I know about cypress mulch. But it is not easy to come by so please no cypress recommendation i cannot get it unless i order a $30 bag offline.

its not to bad but if you are using it in a aquarium than it doesn't really help with humidity and another thing about it it makes cleaning up the poop and all that a little harder.

I don't use substrate so its hard for me to give you any advice. If you are having trouble with humidity I will assume you are using a tank? If so cover the screen with aluminum and that should help as well. Also during a shed you can take a damp hand towel and put it over the screen as well as take a wash cloth and dampen it and put it over the warm hide.

I use cypress and I love it! It's fairly easy to spot clean and I replace it once a month or so. It also holds humidity very well. I haven't used ReptiBark but I have heard that it works ok.

Repti Bark is okay, but there are much better options for less. One of the best out there is Coconut Husk, there are several different brands and it is pretty cheap. Holds humidity great, super easy to clean, and lasts forever. What else could a man ask for?

It's normally around 2-5 bucks and a bag will last you a long while!

I use repti bark and coconut husk mixed together. It seems to do well with humidity and I use a cat litter scoop to spot clean.

as levi said coconut husk is an all around great substrate I used it successfully for 7 years with my first ball python before I got a rack system if you have a terrarium/aquarium then this is the best bang for your buck.

i dont think you should use it i use linoleum because my snake get stress out and wont feed in a seporate tank. u dont want them injesting any substrate. this may result in impaction. better safe then sorry. as for humd. i use a repti fogger that split between my two BPs tanks on a humidistat/thermostat by zoo med

    RE: Repti Bark

I have an aquarium for my BP and I use coconut fiber. It holds humidity excellently, looks natural and it's easy to spot clean. I use a plastic spoon to remove feces. You can get a brick of it really cheap and trust me when I say a little goes a long way! All you have to do is soak a piece of the brick in some water for a few minutes and boy does it expand!

Coconut fiber also holds heat very well from an under the tank heat source. On the heat conductor ratings I think they had it listed at .33% which was higher than most other substrates...
