Lamp not working, please help

Hi everyone, so this is what's happening.

My ball python's heat lamp finally expired today after months of almost straight use, and he is getting cold. I won't be able to go to the pet store for a day or two to buy him a new one, and I need some ways to keep him warm until then.

I've already heard about sleeping with your snake, but I move a lot in my sleep and I don't want to injure him. Plus he would probably just crawl away..

Also: when I do get his new lamp, I need one that lasts a long time, and does not put out much light. Any suggestions?

That's what I meant, the bulb has stopped working, and I cant go to the pet store any time soon to get a new one. The hottest part of my house is upstairs; its about 70 degrees. My dad is cheap and he doesnt keep the heating on too high downstairs during the day. (downstairs is where my snake is.)

I do have a UTH pad but its broken. the lamp's been his only heat source for a long time. I have another heating pad though but ive never used it to keep him warm.

Take him upstairs and use that heat pad if its for reptile use. If you can't use it 70 degrees for 24 hours will be OK. Make sure you get some heat for it tomorrow.

I cant hold him in my arms upstairs all night.. and the pad is not meant for reptiles. Maybe I can turn it on a safe temperature, place it under a box, and place him in it for the night? Would that be ok?

A human heat pad WITHOUT an auto off feature, set on the lowest setting will work in a pinch. I use that when I stay in a hotel over a weekend to heat a tub in the room if I pick up any critters at the show.

Thanks, I'll do that then. Ill just poke holes in the flaps and tie them with a zip tie to keep him form getting out.

Water bottles with hot tap water work as well. Roll some hand towels around them and put them near the enclosure. They get about 110 degrees and last quite a while. Just refill them every few hours and you're good to go.

I suggest using a UTH on a thermostat for perminant heat, however. So this doesn't happen again. Or at the very least keep some backup bulbs handy.
