    I have the same one. I figure that since it takes humidity readings with the corded sensor cut off that it must have an internal sensor for that, so I would presume that sensor also takes the ambient temp as well. I use mine with the sensor still attached, and a temp gun. i would check with tech support for for the definitive answer. It also seems like a pain to have to keep pressing that button to get an ambient temp.
