Oh man I hear you. I get so nervous even leaving just overnight! When I leave for more than a few days I have someone check in on the critters every other day. My mom lives about an hour from me and she came up to check on everyone last year when I went on vacation. Before that trip she had never ever touched one of my snakes. She was deathly afraid of snakes before I got them, even had nightmares about them all the time!!! On that trip though she checked on them and somehow my biggest female tipped her water and soaked her tub, my mom actually took her out and cleaned/replaced everything, even bought her a new water bowl!!! I was so proudBut yes, I'm so nervous, especially with the snakes because people don't know anything about them and one little thing changed/moved/adjusted, and they are all dead. I worry about the kitties just as much though, they are my babies!
