    Re: noob question...

well all, thanks for the quick answers. i removed the carpet, put in a 60% aspen mulch 40% shaved coconut mix in its place. put in 2 under tank heaters each with a rheostat and got rid of the heat lights. so far temps are perfect at 94 hot side, 81-82 cool side. humidity is around 65%. i also got rid of the screen top and put on my hinged glass vented top. The setup i had originally was recommended by the pet store reptile "expert". hmmmm time for a new pet store.

Not really, just know what you are going in to buy.
Some setups work better for one person and not others LOL

Sad to say, many pet store reptile "experts" are called that because they knew someone who owned a snake or lizard once upon a time.

I heard a pet store "expert" telling someone looking at a ferret that they are vegetarians like guinea pigs and could live on alfalfa and carrots mixed with apples and stuff.

After the "expert" left for a minute, I made sure to tell them to get a ferret book BEFORE getting a ferret, because if they listened to that imbecile, they were going to end up with a dead ferret within a week.

Luckily, they believed me and bought a copy of Ferrets for Dummies before they left.

So, just because they work in a pet store that sells that animal, don't believe for one second that it means they know diddly about the animal.
