    how long to wait

My bp has starting to become a very picky eater. he use to eat consistently every 5-7 days. Hes about 6 months old. Lately he refuses a lot of meals. After a refusal how long should i wait to try again?

You should wait about 7 days. Offering too many meals can make him uncomfortable and cause him to fast for a longer period of time.

    Good luck!

I just wait until the next normal feeding day. For example, I feed on Sundays, so if they miss a meal I just wait til the next Sunday. Adults can go a long time without food, and some subadults will go off feed for a while (I have one male who goes off feed for 4-6 months every year).

If my snakes refuse more than 3-4 meals in a row, I give them a two week fast and don't do anything aside from clean out poop and change water. Sometimes giving them some alone time works. Also, winter is the season for most snakes to look for mates, so some of them have stronger drives to stop eating and find a guy/girl. It's what my cornsnake would always do in winter, yet my BPs all eat well through the winter. They're all different! But I do try to give them a break in case they are stressed by anything and make sure I haven't been handling too much or offering prey that is too big. If they still don't eat after the break, I'll either try a live prey or smaller prey to see if it is more interesting. I think once they hit about 6mos, they are getting big enough to feed every week, unless they are unusually small.

If he is producing plugs and you have a ready female near by this may be the case.
Also switch to a regular 7 day feeding cycle at 6 months old there is no need to feed every 5 days.
Offering food is done every 7 days with or without a refusal. Waiting is only done on a regurge.
