    2 uth's ambient temp low

    Ok I have a 30 gallon glass aquarium with 2 uth's 1 on hot side and 1 on cold. Hot side temp 90-92 cold side temp 80-82. House temp around 74 constant temp. I have 1 inch of cypess mulch for substrate humidy averages around 60-65 percent ambient temp stays around 74. Tank is covered on 3 sides with 1/4 styrofoam and 95% of screen top is also covered with styrofoam covered with foil. Unable to get ambent temp up. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

    how is your cold side temp 80 but ambient 74?

    Cold side temp is 80-82 ambient temp is 74

    Yeah you don't need to worry about the ambient temp that much. If your house is 74 degrees then that's ok. As long as your certain of the floor temps, that's the biggest and most important issue.

    I'm sure of floor temps as I have 2 thermometers with probes attached to glass under substrate. Was just worried as ambient temp was low. Thanks for your reply.

    I'm sure of floor temps as I have 2 thermometers with probes attached to glass under substrate. Was just worried as ambient temp was low. Thanks for your reply.

    You could always thin out the layer of substrate. Or you could just count on your snake being smart enough to dig down if it gets cold..I know my snakes always dig down into the aspen bedding I use to get closer to the hot spot if they want to.

    Yeah I think I will just observe and see how she is acting. Just don't want to create any health issues. Thanks for the reply.

    74 is perfectly fine. I try to keep my cool side, ambient I guess, no lower than 75, but it dips to 70 every now and again.

    Thanks for the info. Been outta the game for awhile. 1st time I've owned a bp and just want to be sure I provide the best care possible.
