Re: Snakes Dont Have Personalitites! Lie!
I have almost 30 snakes now, and can honestly say they each have a unique temperament - or "snake-onality," LOL. A few examples:
- Toby the pastel is very calm, gentle, and his favorite place to "hang out" is around my neck (doesn't squeeze tightly). I'm not sure how to describe it or if this is even possible, but he seems to have a kind soul - you can almost sense it in his eyes.
- Mona the normal is outgoing, VERY strong/quick feeding response, and head-shy but never gets snappy about it; she likes to drape over my shoulders, and tucks her tail into my armpit for security.
- Betty the Miami phase corn is a brat, and would rather just be left alone; she loves to rattle her tail like a rattlesnake, and WILL bite if you give her the chance. All I can say is, at least she's pretty & has a good feeding response.
- James the Stimson's is my "wet noodle" snake, who hangs like a noodle when you hold him... no head-shyness whatsoever, in fact he seems to enjoy a nice head/chin rub. He also likes my hair, and wraps himself in it when I hold him.
- Finally I'll describe Charlotte, my yearling western hognose, who is probably the friendliest snake in my whole collection. The minute I go into my bedroom at night, she'll start to bump her nose against the lid for attention... so I'll let her out, and after a few minutes of wandering, she curls up against my leg & sleeps there until I'm ready for bed myself. Such a little sweetie!
