Snakes Dont Have Personalitites! Lie!
I have heard from countless people the remark that snakes are stupid pets due to the fact that they don't have personalities. And i say thats a bunch of BS! I currently only have 2 snakes but i have had many more snakes in the past. Im glad i can say that snakes do have personalitites!
For example My normal male is the total opposite of my female pastel. He needs to figure out what everything is. He is just curios about everything. Oh and did i mention he needs to climb everything too?!?! Haha. He hardly gets spooked by anything anymore.
On the other hand my female pastel is the opposite. She will always find a comfortable spot to just hang out and look at her surroundings, and maybe take a little nap =P. She is still a little skiddish but is getting better.
There i started it off. Now it's your turn. Post your comments and some examples, of some of your favorite snakes personalaties.

Snakes don't have personalities.
They have snakonalities.
The certainly do seem to have a wide variety of temperaments, as well as different degrees of interest in their surroundings.

My snakes all have different temperaments. Zeus is very easily stressed out, he'll cruise all day long if you have to take him out for whatever reason. Louise isn't bothered by anything, she "enjoys" (I use the term loosely) being taken out and exploring a bit. She will go right back in her hide and chill out again. D*ck on the other hand is very flighty, he doesn't like to be handled and he definitely lets you know.

All of mine have diffrent temperments. My Adult redtail she can be your best buddy or she can be extremly moody. My little redtail thinks its 20ft long and bullet proof until you take him out to handle him then hes got to be nosey. (just a cocky little guy) My adult ball is just plane goofy and nosey as can be. My baby bp is a bottomless pit and will hiss at me at times but she can also be very nosey or just sit there, and do nothing. My retic as i have handled him very little can tell hes got a personality on him. WHen i was treating him he turned his head perked it up off the floor flickering his tounge looking at me like (what are you doing you dont make any sense at all)

Re: Snakes Dont Have Personalitites! Lie!
Mine are quite different. I find the boys have slightly more calm personalities while the girls are more active. i feel lucky, ive got 3 out of 4 that arent head shy and all are pretty relaxed. Havent been bit yet so feelin pretty good!
Mr Mustache (spider male) loves to get out, he enjoys being held (loves the warmth). he gets to his spot and just chills. Not head shy most of the time. Every so often he does get a little touchy about his head.
My normal male finds his spot, relaxes, gets bored, finds a new spot, chills, gets bored, finds a new spot.. and so on He used to be very grumpy. When he was a baby he struck at the glass of his old tank quite a few times. I was worried i was going to get my first bite from him but never got me. now he is totally different.
Pastel female is a fart in a skillet, lays low for a little bit but then she is on the move! she wants to explore and go as far as i will let her. Sometimes though she does love to just sit in my hand. She isnt head shy at all and sometimes gets in trouble sticking her head in places, lol..
Big Momma (normal female) does NOT like to sit still. she is constantly moving and *hates* to be made to sit still. She will struggle and fight to get away. When i first got her she loved to curl around my neck and hang out.. then... i had to quit doing that cuz she started to squeeze a bit when i quit letting her around my neck she no longer wanted to sit still. She is head shy and can get rather grumpy.

Re: Snakes Dont Have Personalitites! Lie!
I have almost 30 snakes now, and can honestly say they each have a unique temperament - or "snake-onality," LOL. A few examples:
- Toby the pastel is very calm, gentle, and his favorite place to "hang out" is around my neck (doesn't squeeze tightly). I'm not sure how to describe it or if this is even possible, but he seems to have a kind soul - you can almost sense it in his eyes.
- Mona the normal is outgoing, VERY strong/quick feeding response, and head-shy but never gets snappy about it; she likes to drape over my shoulders, and tucks her tail into my armpit for security.
- Betty the Miami phase corn is a brat, and would rather just be left alone; she loves to rattle her tail like a rattlesnake, and WILL bite if you give her the chance. All I can say is, at least she's pretty & has a good feeding response.
- James the Stimson's is my "wet noodle" snake, who hangs like a noodle when you hold him... no head-shyness whatsoever, in fact he seems to enjoy a nice head/chin rub. He also likes my hair, and wraps himself in it when I hold him.
- Finally I'll describe Charlotte, my yearling western hognose, who is probably the friendliest snake in my whole collection. The minute I go into my bedroom at night, she'll start to bump her nose against the lid for attention... so I'll let her out, and after a few minutes of wandering, she curls up against my leg & sleeps there until I'm ready for bed myself. Such a little sweetie!
