Possible Breeding Behavior?
I recently got my 1st snake, it was a rescue. Im not sure of the sex but i am making freinds with 3 breeders so hopefully they can sex it for me but since ive had Authur "he" normally hides out in his clay house but in the last 4 days hes abandonned his house to search around his tank and look for something,I 1st thought it was food, but the past 5 - 6 weeks he ate 2-3mice a week (smalll mice). For the 1st 2 weeks then down to a rat pup or 2 a week. So far 2 weeks no food, he still keeps searching around but returning to ball up in the back corner on top of his house or wraps around his climbing sticks. 3 days ago i went to take him out and ive noticed his bum was turned up when i opens the cage and the flap was open, ive seen snakes popped on the net ive never tried it but im wondering could it be looking for a mate and the open flap is to let out hormones but does a male do this or a female. (the organ looked female but it was in within 2 seconds)
Hes 32-36 inches long and as round as a medium plum. Im guessin the weight at about 1.5- 2.0lbs
Is it mate searching or from low pressure fronts that keep hitting or could it be from eating a "bad" mouse (new rodent breeder a the store to help with demands)

that's kind of wierd! Never had any snakes gaping their vent before. They are quite fussy about their cloacal area and do not appreciate me examining them, ha ha! If he is fasting, that is normal for colder weather. Also, unless a male has a hemipene everted, it's kind of impossible whether its male or female just by looking at the vent area. i've never heard of males or females doing that.

It was crazy it lasted for about 5 days, now "hes" back in his house but he was looking around like a dog when it looses a ball. He was every where then hed climb up wait and watch, or hed curl up behind his house. Oh and he watches us and tv lol. My 5 cats love him they talk to him when hes out and he didnt even care about them, normally he will sneak about but he was looking in the glass 4 inches up un there faces.
