    Custom coffee table cage help??

I have read thru pages and pages of custom racks that i absolutely love but i cant find much on custom tanks.

I live in a 900Sq ft condo that i own, 2 bed 1 bath. I currently have a 30 gallon tank on a tile shelf between kitchen and living room I have UTH and light.

Im definitely not wanting to over crowd my place with a bunch of tanks but have started expanding my collection

I have a new sectional couch and been pricing coffee tables and was thinking bout building one that would have to enclosures. 2 sides wood, 2 sides plexi, plexi bottom and top, raised slightly so i can do a UTH.

Would this be a ok setup for the snakes being side by side and only having UTH? anyone done before? pics help for reference too

That sounds like a really cool idea, I've seen them for fish tanks and I always liked them.

It should be fine for the snakes, as long as they aren't actually in the same enclosure together. If they're separated it's fine, and as for the under tank heaters, just a uth is perfectly fine, they don't need a lot of heat and it's best if their heat is coming from the bottom of the enclosure for ball pythons. I personally just use uth's with a thermostat set for 91 degrees.

Don't use plexi as a bottom. It can melt if over heated.

As for the rest, yes you can keep them in that kind of set up, you just need to fine tune a bit.

You can also, once you have a bit of experience, keep your snakes together if you choose to.

Perhaps those giving advice would better serve those asking for advice if they actually had experience or first hand knowledge of that which they were advising upon.

What are you trying to house? What type of herp and how many of them? How big are they?

Knowing that kind of stuff will go a long way in being able to offer the kind of advice that you seek.

Im looking at having this for my 2 BP's in my sig, 1.0 normal that is 2 1/2 ft, and 1.0 het orange ghost that is around 10in.

My guesstimate size for each of them off the top of my head would be around a 30 gallon set up of space for each of my boys.

I ran across www.glasscages.com and there prices seem to be quite cheap and seem they can build to my specs for a fair price. Im gna call them up after the holidays and get a quote, but ive got one reptile show im going to next week too and gna see what kind of tanks they may have there.

I like to show them off just limited on space in my condo and want to do something cool yet functional for there well being.

Only problem I would see in that would be the plexi top and in the middle of the room.

Plexi top might scare the snake when putting stuff down on it constantly and cause stress

It being in the middle of the room (I assume b/c most coffee tables are unless it's an end table) might have to much foot traffic. Again I don't know how many people come over or if you have parties, etc. It's a might cause stress situation.

Im looking at doing too different ideas. Either ordering one to my specs. Def gona go w glass though from the input ive got from the plexi idea. If i build one 2 sides would be wood, 2 sides being glass, Glass top, glass bottom. The one glass side would face towards the sliding door so can get natural light and i would do a UTH. Most on table would be remotes. I live in a condo so dont really have parties or anything of that nature.
