    For those W/Out a Snake Room ????

How do you keep your ambient/cool side temps right in the winter with not having a designated snake room you can heat to 80 or so degrees??? My Racks are in my bedroom (Somewhat close to the window, which im moving this weekend ) and although the hot side temps stay consistent because of the flexwatt and Helix (88-90) my cool side is dropping to low 70's. I cannot keep my heat on 80 because it will drive me insane. Any other suggestions. Maybe keeping a basking bulb facing the tubs. Perhaps a blanket in there(Yes! That was a joke, its friday morning and I needed a chuckle ) . Thanks Everyone

My snakes are kept in my bedroom. I keep my heat at 75 degrees and I use an oil filled heater in my bedroom to keep the ambient temps where they need to be. I ive in a drafty old apartment so even though I keep the heat at 75 it still gets very chilly at night, so that is why I use the oil filled heater as a supplement.

i've only got 1 snake...for now and she's in my bedroom as well. i also keep my heater set to 75. i have a small space heater on stand by for the days i notice the cool side ambient temp dropping too low. dont wanna run that thing continuously though cuz those things make the electricity bill skyrocket...not pretty.

I heat my bedroom to 75-77 not 80. Because inside my tubs is a +4 deg difference

I have a space heater to heat the room to about 75 and the rack stays at a constant 80-82 cool side. Except the breeder tubs when the temps drop on the hot side the cool normally drops to 77ish. Also at night i have a blanket (thick) that covers the front of the tubs and also keeps heat in at night.
I do know people who have rooms in the 60's and they use a supplement side heat to keep ambient temps up.

Also I would like to add we don't run the heat at my apt and heating just my room is a money saver vs using the big apt a/c heater.

Mine are in my office beside my desk. It can get pretty chilly in here, too...especially at night. I have a blanket, folded over so it's doubled, and draped over the small rack, so the entire front (where the heat escapes) is covered. This keeps the cool side temps up where they need to be. During the day when it's warmer, and anytime I clean, change water, feed, etc...it's a simple matter to just flip the blanket up. I think the snakes like the enclosed, dark feeling it provides as well.

BG was gonna suggest this easy fix first to see if it worked for you.

Actually, I use a blanket on our quarantine rack, since it's upstairs.
They have really inexpensive heating blankets at WalMart. I just drape it over one side of the rack.
