So pastel hypos are just brighter than average hypos? Or is there an actual pastel gene.

to be honest i dont know im thinken its just a hypo cleaned up with a pastel but i think they look good.

dave already mentioned this, but the pastel trait is not codominant. it is what is known as a "polygenic" trait. the pastel look is a result of a number of genes all combined through selectively breeding snakes together.

if it were truly codominant, it would be (on average) passed on to half of the offspring. in reality, if you put a really pretty pastel with a really ugly normal, more than likely VERY few - if any - of the offspring will fit the "pastel" definition. if you put two really pretty pastels together, most of the offspring could be considered "pastel".
