    Ants Plus Ball Python

so ants have infested my house and i noticed that they are also inside of my snake's habitat going after his water. My worry is, do i need to worry about them harming him in any way?? i dont think i do but i just want to make sure

I have also had ants infiltrate the house. I will not tolerate ants in with my snakes at all. I also have been cleaning out a fresh shed and dropped in in the waste bin and an hour later it is COVERED in ants! I would not trust ants not to bother your snake. I use 'ant powder' around the entry points of the house and around the bottom of the shelving the snake enclosures are on it is just diatomaceous earth that is non toxic to people and unlikely to bother snakes much (I still would not allow direct contact...) Hope that helps.

I've heard about that stuff, when we got bedbugs about a year ago (worst experience of my life) that was a product that could be used to kill them off. It's supposed to pierce the waxy layer the insects have and allow them do dehydrate and die. I can't speak for it's effectiveness though (we just called Terminix).

OP I would try and prevent them from being with the snake, I'm not sure what type of damage ant bites would do but I also wouldn't want to find out. If the funds are available you could call a pest control company to come deal with it, I know it can be alot easier the fighting the buggers by yourself.

One thing that always worked with us when we had ant problems was to sprinkle a line of cayenne pepper along the entry point. Guess the ants don't like the taste because they have a hard time crossing the line. If you can't find the entry point of the little buggers maybe making a perimeter around the snakes enclosure?

Cayenne pepper? I'll have to remember that one.
