In the closet?
I just moved to a new apartment and the best place to keep my ball and my boa is in my closet there temps and humidity have never been so stable. They get handled every day so is it bad they spend almost all
Day with no light?

Re: In the closet?
I don't really know if it's bad or not. They just may not have a regular sleep cycle. Have you thought about using a low wattage light bulb or small lamp in the closet that you could leave on during the day to give them a light cycle?

Ball's are nocternal and do not need light cycles.. There are care sheets on this site that say the same thing.

That's what I thought, I just wanted to make sure. Seems like the lights are for our viewing pleasure, and heat. Heck it might even be better/ less stressful for them to be in a dark warm closet!

You know i actually know of a few breeders that keep their ball pythons in complete darkness and they thrive!! In actuality they feel safer and can come out whenever they please. Also keeing them in a closet is nice because there isn't much traffic around the cage.

Re: In the closet?
Thanks for the info, I was actually wondering the same thing about light cycles. I have my snake rack in the corner of my bedroom where there is absolutely no traffic and due to a few plants on my window sill and curious cats, I keep the blinds/curtains closed all day in there. It's more trouble for me to open and close them everyday too since I'm short. I figured this would actually be stress free for the snakes since it's darker in that room during the day. All my snakes have been eating great and doing great!

Ball pythons... do need a night/day cycle.... if you can just keep your closet open for light to come in during the day would be fine.... I have my snake in a closet also and just slide the door during the day.... but don't let any sunlight hit directly onto the enclosure... if they're feeding regurlarly I wouldn't mind but it will suck being in total darkness all the time...
