    My Leo's are PIGS>>>>>>>

I have 2 babies and let me tell you....I never realized what pigs they are. I can put in 15 crickets and 10 mealworms and they are gone in a matter of minutes. There bellies and tails are huge...huge huge. They poo like there is no tomorrow...they stalk and intimidate their food prior to eating it. who knew....

Can you overfeed leo's??? As I really think my babies are too fat...!!

When I had Leo's I keep feeding til they stopped eating. Since they eat one at a time they normally have a stopping point, even though it looks like they don't.
Never heard of over feeding. The fatter the tail the better!

Yeah, babies are eating machines. I always let them eat as much as they wanted, they do know when they've had enough.

I have one adult that I do sort of cut off, he's huge and really isn't as starving as he'd like me to think he is. If he ate as much as he wanted I'd have to rig a wheeled cart for his tail and belly.

Too funny. It amazes me how much they eat. One of them is a great hunter....and really likes to intimidate his food prior to eating it. The other has a little bit of a harder time catching things. They seem to be doing well together...I was not too too sure about it when my son decided to buy one...(without my knowledge..kind of) He's 10 and this was the first time he was getting to buy something with his own money. He was so excited I couldn't say no.

I am watching them pretty closely to make sure that they are getting along. I have to hides for them on each side of the tank as well as their most hides. They seems to like to be together as opposed to using the different hides though.

lol i have the same problem... my babies always make me feel so guilty when I stop feeding them. When I walk into the room and grab the mealie container most of them come to the front of their cages waiting for me.

I would not worry about overfeeding as long as your wallet can afford it. They will do their best to empty it!

I hate to be contrarian, but if your animals are obese you should certainly worry about overfeeding. You're not helping your geckos by keeping them overweight.

Never seen an obese hatchling/juvie leopard gecko being fed only mealies. Common sense goes a long way... if you have one that is fat of course you should monitor it's food.. but a growing hatchling/juvie from my experience can eat quite a lot of mealies. As they mature once you get them to adult weight then it's always a good idea to monitor that weight.. but I don't monitor or limit growing babies. From my experience they will eat until they are full and then snack on the rest later throughout the evening. I normally place ten to fifteen mealies in their bowls when I feed. The ones with mealies still left in the bowls I only add a few until they are gone then I refill the next day with more.

I have found Fat Tails to be much more of a concern with overfeeding than my leopards.

    Anyway Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

They seem to like their mealies more than crickets but hey they will eat anything when it comes right down to it. I am not concerned with obesity just yet as they are still growing but WOW...they have grown so so much in just a few weeks. It amazes me. And who knew they were so messy...lol.

I get a lot of enjoyment watching them chase down sub-adult roaches. I don't think obesity has ever been an issue I have read about with leo's, especially in juvie's.
