OK I have a couple questions.

1)Which of those 2 methods is the safest and the most accurate?
2)Can either of these methods hurt the snake?
3)When "popping" a female I would assume that nothing would "pop" out due to the females not having hemipenes? correct?

Once learned, the safest and most accurate would be probing. Both methods could be harmfull if not done correctly. If a male isnt't "popped" right it can be confused for a female. Thats why once you learn how to probe its a good idea to probe those that didnt pop male.

The safest is probing, but you HAVE to have expierience doing it or else you could seriously injure your snake.

Well when you pop a male, both red hemipenes will come out, but when you pop a female, 2 white looking horns will come out at both sides. This is the main distinguishing factor between males and females.

If someone is trying to breed an older snake, i usually probe them a few times while i own them to make sure i didn't get any false readings the first time. I usually will pop all my younger snakes, but older snakes have a lot more muscle control down there, so you can injure them pretty bad by popping.

I would find someone local to help you learn and try both popping and probing on younger snakes, then you can try it on older snakes.
