Why won't she "go for it"?

If she's freaked out at the idea of having frozen rodents in her freezer with her ice cream and veggies....try to explain that they're no different than any other frozen meat kept in there. Let her know that you'll keep the package wrapped carefully so no one will know what's in it...and that you'll keep it tucked way in the back so she doesn't have to go around it to get to her things.

They CAN take up a fair amount of freezer real estate though, depending on how many you want to keep in stock. She may just not want them taking up valuable space.

In either of these circumstances, you might suggest investing in a small supplemental freezer to keep in the garage or basement or even your bedroom. Frozen rodents can stay in there and she'd never have to worry about it.

I'm guessing its the fact, that it's rodents in the main freezer along with frozen foods you guys would eat. Although i keep some in my freezer, i still get weirded out sometimes when i go get some ice cream...haha.... I would say try looking on craigslist for small freezer. Ive seen some small chest freezers go for $50.00..

I agree. My wife was not happy with me keeping rats in her freezer so I went and got my own. As NNJExotics said you can find them on craigslist for very cheap

Get some latex gloves to cover your hands with when handling the rats? Wash your hands a lot?

I just thaw them...make sure they're heated properly....quickly feed all the snakes...and then wash my hands very thoroughly. Never had an issue...and farm-raised rats are not known to carry any diseases like a wild rat might.

I would show her the money saved, and as far as touching rats..... frozen would be safer than handling live... any illness or parasite the rats have is frozen and killed at that point....

Yeah F/T just makes good sense, it's safe, cheaper than P/K or Live, and easy to store if the snake goes off feed.
