Why is My BP So Nippy?
It started yesterday. Everytime I go to her cage she extends her neck out and like half her body is in the air, like she wants to feed. But I fed her a big rat so she shouldn't be hungry. She follows my every move and from time to time lunges at me and tries to bite me. I have had her for over a year and this is the first time she has ever done this. Her temps and humidity are just fine. She has 2 hides, a heat source, I don't know what her problem is.
Any answers?

One of mine does this. I think it's completely food related. It got so bad, I couldn't even get the rat in the cage, he'd start lunging for it before I even got it near him. The last two feedings, he ate hanging off the side of his enclosure. I'll be moving him to a tub soon because it's become hard to take care regular husbandry while trying not to get bit. I have him on a 5 day eating schedule now to see if it helps any.
After he has eaten, he's been just fine. Or after he bites me, he realizes it wasn't feeding time. I'd like any other tips, I'm open to try anything else.

it's possible the rat's smell is still on some container or utensil, and she still detects it.
Do you feed in it's tank or out? I've always fed mine outside of her main tank in a rubbermaid container.
Are there rodents in a close proximity to your snake?
What's your feeding procedure?
Ride the snake, ride the snake/ To the lake, the ancient lake, baby/ The snake is long, seven miles/ Ride the snake...he's old, and his skin is cold... (The End, The Doors)

I feed her in a seperate tub in the same room. I have done this for months and this is the first time she has done this. There are no rodents in the room. But, my cat, who eats rats and plays with them all the time in my garden, slept in my room, and most likely during the night jumped on top of their cages because she was curious. She probably has rat smell all over her.
Could this be why?
