Do you give really bad first time moms a second chance

I just had a first time mom have a litter of 10 pups. She did nothing with them. When I found them they were a bloody ball of babies and bedding with cords still attached. They were all cold and none had milk in their stomach. One was already dead(could have been still born) so I tossed the mess in with my best mom. She had a litter the day before. Within an hour she had the babies cleaned up and fed and all 9 survived. I have since divided the litter to a few moms so I don't overwork my other females. I also gave one of her babies back to the original mom and so far she is keeping it alive. Should I breed her again of just feed her off. I have never had a female not even chew off the cords.

A second chance can't hurt if you have a garbage gut BP. If not, freeze the suckers and get yourself a garbage gut colubrid!

She has kept the baby I gave her back alive. Maybe she'll do better next time.

sometimes they are just overwhelmed and instinct does not kick in like it should. If that's the case, she should do much better next time. If not, then someone will have a good meal, or you will have a really nice pet

Second chances never hurt. I don't breed rats myself, but if I were you I would give her a second chance, they generally get better as mothers with experience.

Given them a 2nd chance is a good idea. First time moms sometimes have no clue what to do with their new babies and they are scared and stressed.

No, unless human error had a role in the female failing with her first litter (like if a girl accidently gets pregnant too young, tub gets flooded by leaky bottle, etc)
