breeding Question
So this id my first season to breed, only going to have only two clutches this season. However, my question is i house all my snakes in the same room (breeding males and females along with younger males and females) When i go to drop the temps for the nighttime could it hurt the younger nonbreeding males and females to have temps drop like that.???

Re: breeding Question
Plenty of people have told me that they don't even bother to drop temps and they still get excellent egg production. In my opinion, if people can and do produce eggs without dropping temps, there's no real reason to do it. Balls can get sick and die if the temperature or humidity go too low for too long, and younger ones are much more vulnerable. If you must drop temps, you might consider getting a herpstat pro or other thermostat that can maintain multiple set-ups at different temperatures, and just run the babies at a constant, higher temperature year-round.

Re: breeding Question
We keep everything in one room. I do drop temps with my breeder girls only by dropping the T-stat on their racks only. The other racks T-stats stay on 24/7. Doing this does make our ambient room temps drop a few degrees while the breeder girls are cooling but not enough to hurt anything.

Re: breeding Question
I keep them all in the same room. I drop the room temp 1 degree a day until I reach 76. I don't go up and down with temps. 76 day and night. the young snake racks will have a hot spot of 90 to 92 and the breeding adults around 86. most of my females will eat during breeding until they ovulate. they also have no problems with digesting the rodents at these temps.

Re: breeding Question
I keep all my snakes at the same temperature all year round, I don't drop temps or cool at all, and I have had success with breeding for the last 3 seasons. The benefit for me is that it lessens the risk of RI's as some snakes seem to be more susceptible to getting infections from temperature drops than others, I figure it's much the same as humans, some people a plagued by colds, whereas others rarely get them. I keep my hot spots at between 92f and 95f year round, and my cool end is normally around 80f to 85f. Gravid females seem to like to lay their eggs in the middle of their tubs between the two temperatures.
Hope that helps

Re: breeding Question
That helps a lot, Im dropping temps right now but i still have a young enchi and female spot that i need to put weight on. So i think if going to flip back and leave ambient around 82 isntead of the normal 85. Thanks for all your guys input
