If I was going to buy a desert, it would definitely be a female. Males start depreciating significantly the moment you buy them, probably somewhere near50% a year. Females, on the other hand, actually increase in value from hatchling up until near breeder size. They hold their value well for awhile but will eventually depreciate, just at a MUCH slower rate than males.

With Desert being the exception, with rumours of females taking an age to attain breeding weight, and/or not producing viable clutches.
If someone hatches a killer super desert, you'll wish you had bought a female, but I'd stick with a male.
