I think I'm taking Nergal to the vet. Bitten eye

...he has a puncture in his eye. I think the stupid rat bit his eye after all.
It almost looked like shattered glass, and in the middle there is a definite puncture mark.
I don't know how deep it goes, but it looks like it went through more than just the eye cap. I think I might take him to the vet.
Does this sound like a good idea? Can they do anything for him?
I just want him to be ok.

omg im so sorry!!! yeah vet good. even if he cant really do anything for him, at least he can give him some anti-biotics to keep from infection.

Yeah i have seen this happen, there is also a thread somewhere on here about the healing process of it and had pictures, but i can't seem to find it. A vet check would be helpful, but most of the time, shedding over 6-10 months is the best medication for a injury on the eye or skin.

It's always a good idea for something like that to be checked by a competent veterinarian. There may be infection brewing, or anything else lurking there. Forums are a great source of advice but when it comes right down to it - vet vet vet.

posted photos. bite on his head looks alright, still red, not so swollen. The eye looks ok other than the hole but I'm not vet. I guess I'll look online for vets and see who, if anyone, is good with treating snakes.

I had this happen a few years ago. Physically there is nothing the vet will be able to do. You might get an injection to prevent infection but that's about it. But yes you should take your snake to the vet

Should I make an emergency appointment or just a regular one? I think they charge more for emergency ones (not fair!) >:/
I might have to wait til tomorrow morning. I don't know if anywhere is open unless I need to make an emergency one--do you think I should? I definitely can, but don't want to unless I have to.
