Too much heat?

How hot would be too hot for a burm or retic? What kind of health problems are talking about and at what temperatures? Would there be any way to compensate for the heat? i.e. increased humidity, ect.

P.S. No snakes are being subjected to extreme temperatures in my household, just a future reference question.

If your cage goes above 95 on the hot end I consider that too hot. Having accidentally cooked a 100+ lb burm once, TRUST ME, you do not want to do it.

I had a thermostat go bad one day at work about 2 years ago and lost a large male anaconda the cage was so hot inside from the heat tape on the bottom It was a 3 piece ap stack

I wasn't worried about thermostats so much, but I probably should. I was thinking about converting a finished storage space above my garage into a snake room. The only problem it is is that it isn't climate controlled. So in the summer it definitely gets over 95 in there. There is an A/C unit up there, but I can only imagine the costs to run it in the NC summer 24/7 would be astronomical.

Oh it's definitely hotter up there than outside. I'd say by 5 degrees or so. It's brutal up there.

I recommend RHP for larger tics and burms. Just be sure to route all wires out of reach.

ive been very unsuccesful with rhp for retics. They work great with my burms but every retic Ive ever had has figured out a way to yank them out of the top. And or rip the cord out. They also like to pull out there fluroscent lighting

Thats where custom caging with a recessed section for the RHP. So that it installs flush yet sturdy.
