    Sick Boa

I bought a columbian boa from a repticon show on saturday. It's about a foot and a half long. At first, I didnt notice anything wrong. Yesterday it started corkscrewing its neck, this morning it seemed a bit disorientated, and now seems almost dead. I read up and realized these are many symptoms of IBD. Is there anything i can do for my poor snake? has anyone else had problems with repticon?

I wouldn't get your hopes up... Not really sure but I don't think there is a cure for IBD.

No, IBD is fatal. If you have other snakes, I hope you quarantined the new one from day one, and haven't crosscontaminated the others. Sorry to hear about your boa. I would definitely let the breeder know, as his whole collection is at risk and quite probably carriers.

I'd use straight bleach or rubbing alcohol...Theres no experience behind that suggestion, I'd just want to make sure its completely sanitized.

Also as horrid as this may sound, if your sure its IBD I'd put it down, its going to die anyway and if you have other snakes taking him out of the picture may save you from getting any of them sick as well.

    Sorry for your loss

I am incredibly sorry for your loss. That really is to bad, expecially since it was for your first snake. Make sure you completely and thoroughly examine any new animal you may be interested in purchasing before taking it home. But definatly let the breeder know as soon as possible.
