    Figuring out a prank caller...

Okay, I gotta question for ya'll.

So I have been getting prank called sometimes 2 or 3 times a week by this number. But now that I live in Hinkley, I have no service and their call goes straight to voicemail and I get it later... since I have no service when they call, it doesn't even show a 'private' number called. Is there ANY way to figure out how in the heck to track this person?

They are getting pretty vulgar, and creeping me out. They keep saying they are my ex from highschool.. who.. is someone i hate with every fiber of my being for many reasons. Which, i know its not him. But they are getting really.. sexual...

I just got this new number not to long ago, so how in gods name did they find out my number? I know its not any of my close friends because they wouldn't even bring up my exs name around me.

I assume you mean this is your cell phone. Go online and see if you can get the info from your account or call the company and see if they can get the number and block the call.

    Good Luck!

Get another new number if your carrier can't get to the bottom of it.
Get Google Voice. You can block any number you want. It's really a great tool...text, voicemail and total control. You pretty much route your calls through it, it won't help right now as this guy has your real number but if you can get a new number then just give your GV number out.
You can use it a ton of different ways.
Of course everyone would need to learn a new number again...

Re: Figuring out a prank caller...

If they are leaving the messages in your voicemail, first and foremost, don't delete the messages. Save them in case you find out who is doing this and want to pursue harassment charges. But, in the voicemail system, if you get into the options, you may be able to get the "envelope information". That would be the date and time the message was left and the phone number that it came from if available. If that doesn't give you the info you need, call your cell phone provider and tell them what's going on and see what help they can give you. I guarantee that their phone system has the information you want, but you may have to get a court order to compel them to release the information. But that brings me back full circle to my first piece of advice, which was to keep the messages. If you need to get a court order or subpoena, you will need those recordings...

Re: Figuring out a prank caller...

I actually just remembered that something similar was happening a while back. I was getting voicemails from some guy who was cheating on his wife. LOL. My phone never rang, I would just get a notification that I had voicemail. I called Verizon and they could not trace it back to anyone (or so they said) because he was not calling, he was recording the messages and then sending them, not actually placing a call. They eventually stopped but all Verizon would/could do was change my number, which I did not do.

if you have the number and you don't want to do anything illegal, save the messages and file harassment charges. There are plenty of things you can do but none of which im entirly sure are legal lol.

Contact your company, tell them it's threatening and harrassment and you need information in order to file a police report. Once they give you the information on who/what number, you can look up the number on the net(maybe) and then contact the police, and let them listen to all the messages, tell them you are fearful for your personal safety and have them do what they do.

Forgot to add, it might be someone calling an old number, not you personally. That DOES NOT MATTER, as whoever he IS calling doesn't need that junk either. You didn't mention if it was by name, or just "you dated me in high school".

Yeah, that is exactly what is happening. But I just GOT this new number and I don't feel like going through it all over it. I was just hopeing he'd stop unless he actually starts threatening me. Right now, he's just being plain gross.

I am getting a new phone soon, once I have the money but I am keeping the number since I just got it.

I am going to call the company and see what they can figure out what the number, beacuse I don't think its going to be very easy to figure it out. I know he's got the right number because he keeps saying he's my ex (billy) I kept the last few, I know it's not one of my friends pranking me because like I said, they KNOW bringing up his name would get their butted kicked my me. His name no longer exsists in my vocabulary that is how much I hate him. So by someone calling saying it's him, it's REALLY bothering me.
