    Agouti Blue Rats

This is a project I've worked on for 6 months or so starting with a female agouti that I bred to my big Himalayan male producing 2 beautiful agouti females that carry blue.
My Himalayan boy is from a blue male to a blue female, all of his babies are het blues and when I breed him to a blue it averages 50% Himalayans and 50% Blues.

So I raised up 2 agouti het blue girls

And bred them to this blue hooded boy

And got 2 litters of 11 kits with 2.3 agouti blue babies, the pay off!
There will be 2 female agouti blues held back and the lightning blazed blue female also since I have no blazed females ATM.

Both girls threw 4 colors consisting of agouti, agouti blue, Himalayan and blue.

A blue surrounded by agouti blues

Agouti, Blue and two agouti blues

    Agouti Blue Berkshire Male

A project that produced 3 beautiful future breeders 2 of which will make many more agouti blues in the future, Thanks for looking

I think a lot of your genetic calculations up there are incorrect, but you did end up with some lovely agouti blue rats. I'm so used to mice, that it's very interesting to see an agouti blue rat.

Did one of your agouti rats carry himilayan? Were they siblings or related? Because to me, although I might just be confused by your explanation, it almost sounds like your 'himilayan' might be a blue point Siamese?

    Nope, not blue at all...
Here's the male Himalayan I bred to the original agouti.
He comes from an American blue to American blue breeding.
Flash makes him look Siamese a little, he's not white at all but more creamy Ivory colored.

He's reeeeeally dark for a Himilayan. I think that he might be Siamese. But deffinately not a blue Siamese, thanks for the photo.

A himilayan would be more white, and less cream/off-white colour.

You know I think your right, which kind of pisses me off, lmao.

The breeder my friend got our founding stock from had Himalayan written in on their genetics page but no Siamese. I even called her on it to see if it was a mistake and she said no, your rats make Himalayan.
Now that I look some more they look exactly like Seal point Siamese.

It doesn't change anything about my project except by name, the agouti blue color is beautiful and only gets prettier as they age IMO

    Thanks for pointing that out

Makes me a little sad cause it looks JUST like my siamese (pet) that I had to feed off because she got real sick.

Congrats on your blue's though, they're awesome!

    Siamese to me.
I may not be very smart, but what if I am?

Yeah I agree, I just assumed the breeder knew what she was talking about

You know what they say about that word
