Eating this mouse weird... Do I need to intervene?
So my snake pretty much bent the mouse in half and is trying to eat it as a mouse ball... is that dangerous? I don't think it will fit, but I'm worried that it will start to and cause an issue.

Update... I guess it's bast the point of no return. It's now a ball almost completely in her mouth, but not going down at all. I've never seen her mouth this big.

Ive had them do this before it is nothing to be worried about. A snake can get it out if they want to, I would say that you are feeding something to small if it can get away with this. Prey that is large enough for the snake can only go down head first.

Well, it went down and she seems to be ok. Only weird thing is she's rubbing her face up against every hard surface she can find. I know she's not about to shed(she shed just last week) and I don't see any signs of mites on her.
What else causes snakes to rub like that? It's not the searching for an exit rub because she's even rubbing against her own back.

Your snake is realigning it's jaws after eating the meal.

My baby boy used to do that too when I didn't have any prey items big enough for him. Don't worry about them hurting themselves in eating the mouse folded sideways, they aren't going to keep going if they can't do it.
and as was said, they were just realinging their jaws, since they can do all that crazy stuff with their jaws while they eat it can put them a bit out of whack until they get them back.

Just a follow up in case anyone else finds their snake doing this...
She had a small splinter sticking out the side of her face. Pair of tweezers took care of that, but still, I'm sure it wasn't pleasant for her and it explains why she was always rubbing. Just keep that in mind if anyone else see their snake acting up.
