Are they Gopher snakes, or Bull Snakes? Bull snakes can be found in Mexico and Cali, but are more abundant in the central areas of the United States such as Colorado. I treat mine as a desert species and only give him a light misting 2-3 a week and only double this when he is shedding. For heat i keep mine at about 88-89 this gives me some leeway in case something happens and I need to increase the heat. I do have to say that during the summer months my temps go up a degree or 2 so pay attention to this. I rarely see mine soaking even though he does have a water bowl large enough for soaking. They are great eaters and I have yet to notice my bull or pine snake turn down food. Good luck to you.
