Cleaning ASF setup.
Hey everyone.
I have two groups of 1.2 ASF in a ten gallon tank with a big piles of babies still nursing, there are 2 different aged litters in the pile. I was wondering how I clean the setup. I have a clean tank ready to go so I could just transfer the adults, but I'm not sure if there is anything I should know about the babies. How do I put them in the fresh setup? Will the mothers dig out new nests for them and take them back even after the move? I just see the clean setup as being a bit traumatic and they may not know what to do.
Thanks
Sam
Edit: I forgot to mention. Both of my groups "lost" their first litter or babies. They were born, the mothers made nests, and then the babies just started to get scattered all over the tank, die, and disappear. This time around they are doing a great job however. Is that a common occurance? I didnt bother them or change anything, and it happened to both groups.

Yea thats pretty much all you have to do. Just make shure you take the adults out to or you might finish with less fingers than you started.

Re: Cleaning ASF setup.
Ok thank you. And yes, I used to have 2 white rats as pets in high school that were smart and friendly, these are very different lol. All the african soft furs want is food and BLOOD!

Re: Cleaning ASF setup.
I scoop em right up and move them with no problems.
I have ran into a few issues with first litters. I've never had any problems after that though. Some of the groups I start like to have really small first litters but end up being my best producers.
