Re: Breeding tips,& need to know's

Well, I'd be far from experienced (4rth season), but a simple checklist would be:

    1. Male and female both up to weight and very healthy
    2. Male and female correct age
    3. Temperatures are steady
    4. Humidity is steady, or a little higher (misting does seem to get them in the mood, but don't down-pour them with water)
    5. Be patient, they don't always lock right away, or even in the first couple months.
    6. Cycle the male, three days on, three (or even more) days off. How many days off I would depend on weight and age.
    7. Watch their behavior carefully, and monitor weights (males will go down, or level off (not gain), female should keep going up)
    8. Don't check on them too often, three times a day max, if you see a lock, stop looking completely until the next day.
    9. If the male is locked and he's due for a day off, do not remove him until he unlocks the female, even if he stays for longer than the three days

That's all that comes to mind for breeding right now, if you need more info ask, I'll add more if I think of them.

    Merged!
Best tip is research, research, research, the info are out there, website, book even videos and make sure you are ready, think about everything there is to plan housing, feeders etc than if you have specific questions ask away.
