Herpstat temps prob
ok i have three tubs all using the exact same heat pad until i get my flexwatt and they are all plugged into the same herpstat. the temps were the same when i first plugged them in, but now they are all over the place. one keeps hitting 97, one stays at 89, and one goes from 89-95. my herpstat is set at 92 but the acurites are all saying different temps. they have new batteries and the probes are all on the same spot over the heat pad. any suggestions??

Are they the same size heat pad and positioned in the same spot?

Re: Herpstat temps prob
every heat pad is identical and taped down in the rack in the same spot in relation to the tubs

Re: Herpstat temps prob
I would suggest e-mailing Dion at Spyder Robotics. He should be able to help you find out if it is some type of internal problem or not...

Re: Herpstat temps prob
If you run a temp gun across an 11x12 inch piece of flexwatt you quickly learn they have hot spots and not always in the same place.
Just because you place probes in the same general area doesn't mean you'll get the same readings.
This is why I love my temp gun vs thermometer probes.
Also if you have one clip that's not contacting as well as the others you can and will get varying temps.

Check the acurites, I found 7 degree differences in some of mine. Try placing them in the same place and see if they are reading the same. Most acurites have a 2 degree up or down tolerance so if you get one reading high and one low... 90-94 and one off a touch farther that accounts for the variation. Just something else to try.

If your using an Accurite it's not always right. Get a temp gun. Also the herpstat has 1 probe and if your using a ZooMed UTH they are all and you can never get them to run the same so don't try. Get the flexwatt and a temp gun and your will be good to go.

Re: Herpstat temps prob
i got a temp gun but its hard to get good resdings inside of my rack when the heat pads are way in the back. guess i just gotta get some flexwatt and use that.
