I saw it, it was o-kay. The woman was clearly crazy, I know none of the hot keepers around here would handle their rattle snakes like they were BPs. Letting them roam your house while you clean cages? Truly believing you are immune to venom? CRAZY.


But I was kinda disturbed that they decided to cut off all the snakes heads so they could discover who bit her. Did it really matter at that point? I'm sure they could have figured it out through and autopsy or SOMETHING.

regardless of the Bitis or any hot for that matter I mean really I didn't notice locks either on the reenactment cages hmmmmmm whats thats say reenactment fail for safety?

Actually there is at least one guy who has an extremely high tolerance for venom I forget his name old man though milks them for antivenin florida i think oh god now I have to find the info......it was Steve Irwin era of AP when there was a show out on the man when they were all pro and con equally for the most part hmmmm

the fact that the women thought she was immune from ONE BITE is ignorant. to let a snake like a gaboon free roam your house is arrogant. she didnt call 911 to protect her snakes and the end result was the destruction of all of them is a very sad kind of irony.

It is also sad as well that due to the media twisting things when and where they choose, as well as most peoples already negative thoughts that she felt the need to protect her animals, now adding in the daddy didn't love me and I had no friends she probably would have had better luck in the grown up[ entertainment, however, she clung to her herps and well they were all she had much like the little old cat lady or dog hoarder her choice was just more dangerous. The saddest part to me is the fact she actually went to school for it....there's the kicker what part of her everyday professional life did she take and use at home.....none irresponsible owner 0, snakes 0, responsible owners 0, media and everyone else who turns up there nose and judges all of us herpers off incidents like these well they're in the lead. should be more fire under our butts to take our scaly friends for walks cause u know ur gonna have the chance to change someones mind.

Hi name is Bill Haast, he was the curator of the Miami Serpentarium until 1984. He as recently as 2006 continued to maintain 400+ hot snakes which he still milked by hand weekly. Pretty impressive for anyone let alone someone in his late 90’s. Well it’s perhaps not quite accurate that he is immune to snake venom, he does through decades of self immunization display an incredible tolerance to it. Many others have tried to copy his self immunization technique but to my knowledge no one else has had much success with it.

Yes, I agree; this type of ratings-driven, sensationalistic programming likes to frighten audiences with cautionary tales about venomous snakes, what happens when keepers are careless, irresponsible, mentally unstable--or maybe all of the above. (Um, so yeah, can we all agree that it's just not a good idea to reach up under the Barcalounger and try and drag out the gaboon viper bare-handed?!) Another one of those overdramatized “documentary/entertainment” shows… think sharks. Sheesh… whatever.

But what's especially aggravating: When the narrator drones on about the dangers of keeping and handling hots, while showing footage of ball pythons and other non-hots. It's bad enough that they disrespect all of the responsible, competent, serious hots keepers, but to also paint ball pythons and other nonvenomous reptiles with the same scary brush is iniquitous. For goodness sakes, in “Snakes In a Trailer,” there was a menacing voice-over with footage of beardies! Typical for this type of programming, I know, but irritating.

I’m mumbling under my breath at the screen, head in hands, knowing full well that my snake-phobic neighbor, who can't tell the difference between a ball python and a rattlesnake, is now going to tell me again how dangerous my snake is because (after all) she saw “Snakes In a Trailer,” and snakes are all eminent threats, right?

I thought it was good but i agree the woman forgot the one golden rule never reach your hand into a HOTS enclosure or muchless stick your hand where you think its hiding at. Thats why tongs and hooks is always used. I wouldnt mind owning a gaboon with getting all legally permited, but id use tongs and hooks everytime. but for now ill stick with my constrictors there bites hurt bad enuff as it is.
