female rat just had 13 babies in the last 2hrs

i checked on her at 1 30 no babies at 3 30 13 babies. i was like holy crap. my ? is should i foster a few to my other mother rat. i used her as a foster 2 weeks ago after i got a hopper rat as a feeder but the snake didnt want it so i gave him to my mother rat she took it with no problems her 3 babies were only a few days old at the time now they should open there eyes any day. i used 1 of the male babies as a feeder this morning so she only has 2 babies right now. so can i foster a few of the babies?

They should be fine. Just feed your mother rat lots of good food. She should be able to raise that litter, no problem.

but she only has 12 nipples and 14 babies?

Try to feed off a few if you have something small or some snake that likes multi-items. I had a girl have 13 and I've lost all but four. It might be bad luck or because it was her first litter, but since rats have 10 or 12 nipples (can't remember) and more babies need more milk, it wouldn't hurt to take some strain off her. The one who had 13 wanted NOTHING to do with them, and the girl who had 7 (2 were fed off) is taking care of all of them now and lost some weight.

i have some female that have 17 to 19 baby at a time and they do just fine!!!
