Ain't this the truth, lol... It seems that every time I find a decent girl that I get along with and enjoy being with as soon as she finds out about my collection it is the end of that. It isn't any easier finding a good woman who likes snakes or any reptiles either...

I am surprised with all the woman on here who's men are the ones scared of their snakes, it is interesting and nice too see.... gives me some hope lol

Most of the guys I've dated haven't been crazy for snakes, and it's rather disappointing. There is hope though! My current man is getting more and more interested in the morphs I look at online, and I'm dragging his sorry butt to the reptile show this weekend maybe we'll find something he really likes!

My husband and I are into it together. We care for them together and pick them out together.

In fact, we went to Tinley Park on our Honeymoon and it was perfect for us. We have a dream list of snakes that we want to try to aquire together, and plans for a snake room when we have a house.

Neither of us had snakes before we met. We didn't get our first snake until we moved in together when we were 18. It just sort of grew on us

I know what you mean, so now I am afriad to meet someone new because eventually I am going to have to tell them about my hobby and my animals and they are just going to turn away. Therefore, I just don't set myself up for disapointment anymore.

Well I started the hobby but now my bf is every bit into it as I am. Feeding day is a ritual for us and we spend time together scanning ks and deciding what morph we want to buy next! Now, as far as handling, well he's ok once they are out of the enclosure, but not a fan of picking them up yet. We're working on it

Re: Spouse's/Significant others and you herps...

It started out that my wife and I bought a normal BP for our 5 year old son as a father/son activity. I had grown up with a snake and my wife is okay with them.

That was all it took though. I went to the Repticon when it came through town and bought a spider. My wife was a little less excited about that.

Now I'm really excited about it and want to breed in a few years. I've ordered Vision containers, heat tape and accessories to build a rack.

What I haven't figured out how to tell her is that I ordered 2 100% het vpi axanthic girls from one breeder and a female pastel 100% het vpi axanthic and vpi axanthic male from another breeder.

All four to arrive next week...doh!

Re: Spouse's/Significant others and you herps...

My wife just kind of ignores them, but definitely gives me a hard time when I get around my friends and start talking about snakes. She doesn't really want to hold them or anything else. She does check the temps for me though when I am not home.

She is going to the Hickory, NC show with me at the end of this month though so... maybe she will see something she likes.

For the most part, girls I've dated have always found them interesting, even if they were scarred of them. But pretty much every one ends up holding the baby hognose at some point. Who can resist those! They are less excited about the hots though.

My husband is actually the one who got me into snakes. A few years ago, I wouldn't even hold one, and now I have a whole plan set out to breed. We started with one kingsnake, and now its erupted!

I'm thrilled that we have something in common, and it gives us a lot to talk about. We're pretty different people with very different interests, so having something like this is great. Even my 2 year old daughter likes snakes! (She also eats dirt, so I am not sure how much her opinion matters yet! )

Well, my mom absolutely hates snakes. Luckily I don't live with my parents anymore though. My dad doesn't care so much, but has asked me to get rid of them for my mom's sake. I'm keeping them however, it's my life and my home, they'll never see them if they don't want to. As for my boyfriend, he's not enthusiastic, but does love to hold and handle them. If I'm busy taking care of one, he'll take another out to help continue socializing them.
