    Angry Ghost?

I bought a female orange ghost at the local reptile show around a month ago. I have tried leaving her alone only taking her out once a week for around 15 minutes at a time. She starts out very tense and by the end she is striking at me like crazy. Today was feeding day and she starting striking like crazy and tagged me. No big deal or anything she is only around 80-90 grams. I know each snake varies but i have never had a ball python even come close to striking at me much less one that won't stop striking, hahaha. Anything I can do or? Maybe i just have a looker that i can't handle, at least she eats for me.

    Re: Angry Ghost?

Her set up is like all of my others i have done. Since she is small she is in a 15qt she has two hides and a water bowl on aspen bedding. Perfect temps 92 on hot 82 on cool side. Humidity is on point. I don't know, i figure im just scary because im so much bigger than her. Maybe one day she will calm down...

    Re: Angry Ghost?

Some neonates are naturally agressive. But she could just be an agressive Ball Python. I've got a Lesser Platty that thinks she's a viper. She hisses as soon as I pull out of her tub. She'll then starts striking as soon as my hand gets near her. She stops biting after I have her in my hands, but I keep one hand right behind her head to prevent her from striking.

But she is a really good eater, so I live with the agression.

The only thing I can suggest, since she's so young, just continue to handle her. She may calm down.

    Good Luck!

Some are just naturally defensive especially when little. I had one that was super mean when she was a hatchling and is now a complete doll baby. I never worked with her or anything. Our only interactions was cage cleaning etc. She just calmed down as she got bigger. I have some that were grumpy as babies and are still grumpy now too though - lol. Hopefully yours will calm down over time
