When do you start pairing?

Thanks! The temperature is literally the same ALL YEAR out here, since I live right on the coast... so outside temps & season aren't much of a factor, and I didn't cool last year (don't plan to this year either). Guess it doesn't matter when I pair them, but I'm just wondering if it's a waste of time to start early - since they mostly seem to ovulate in spring regardless.

Mine do seem to respond to hours of daylight, too, if they're in a room with windows. But my girls are still eating plenty, and the males are only just starting to taper down their feeding.

Yesterday my female het albino was repeatedly shrugging off the male het's attentions when I introduced them.
