    temp + thermostat problem

Hi, this isn't exactly for BP's but is generic enough I have a 40qt rubbermaid with a male rtb I'm having problems with my temps, my accurite is placed inside over the UTH, along with my T-stat probe right next to it.

T-stat is set 87-88 deg and the accurite is easily 8-10 off from this.

is this normal? which one do I "trust" the Accurite is old and has been used outside/inside alot and was wondering if its just wrong/worn out

    my T-stat is this one

    http://www.amazon.com/Hydrofarm-MTPR...5106504&sr=8-6

I'm leaning to believe the accurite is just plain wrong, putting my hand on the tub it barely feels WARM much less close to 100?

    please help new to this

    Chad

I believe you should have your T-stat probe on the outside directly on the UTH. Then have your themometer probe on the inside where his belly will be. Then adjust your T-stat to get the desired temps on the inside of the tub according to your thermometer.

    Try replacing the batteries also.

And remember, our body temp is high 90's, so if its barely warm to you, it's probably in the 90's.

I'm just about to get that thermostat and I've heard good things, and people on this forum who have it also like it.

I have found a lot of temp probes go bad after a while and read wrongly. I'd try another one and see if it is reading the same. I personally am being driven crazy by this!!!!

after placing the T-stat probe between the UTH and bottom of the tub the accurite and it are spot on temps are on the cool side 79-83 or so hot side 89-93 so it's perfect for my rtb now

Awesome, yeah most of the time its the thermometer that is worn out or has bad batteries, i've experienced this numerous times and got so frustrated about temps, then realized how simple the fix was.

Glad you got it figured out though!
