Uggg humidity problems...condensation??

I have the right humidity 50-60 and up it when he sheds and his shed in his tub was perfect, and it was his first one in the new tub set up..now my problem is...the humidity is right, but droplets of moisture are collecting on the sides of the tub. But if I make any more holes, my humidity goes too low and my ambient temps go too low....

Is it bad to have condensation? Can this lead to RI?

Any suggestions on how to solve this if it's bad? His substrate isn't wet, just the condensation on the sides.

Condensation really has more to do with the difference in temperature inside vs outside the tank. The glass/tub is cool enough to cause the humidity to turn back to water. Higher humidity requires less of a temperature difference to cause condensation, but it can happen at just about any humidity level.

I don't think it's bad as long as your humidity levels are fine and your temps are normal.

How can I solve this problem, does it mean I don't have enough ventilation? Should I make more holes?

Has anyone encountered this before? I think my humidity is actually too high, because I'm getting a different reading from the new accurite I just bought..

Yes, I get condensation in my plastic tub if the substrate gets wet (snake crawls over the water bowl, sometimes tipping it, etc.). I change substrates when this happens.

But if your substrate is dry and you still get condensation, your humidity may be too high. You can put holes on the lid and use tape (outside of the tub) to cover or uncover them to adjust humidity.

Yeah I think I'm going to do that. Because my substrate is damp on the edges of the tub because it collects on the sides, then if I bump it, the water rolls down.

I'd be careful putting tape directly over the holes. Depending on the size of the hole, it may be possible for the snake to get stuck to a section of it... snake tape injuries aren't pretty. It depends on how tall your tub is, but I have a screened tank, and I know my snake will reach up to push against the screen from time to time.

How do regular breeders keep their tubs from getting condensation?

I had my water dish over the heat pad and moved it off, and I think that's helping, but my other tub just has a small water dish and ambient temps of 80 and there is condensation everywhere, so does that mean I need more ventilation holes, or possibly a small cut out section with screen hot glued to it?

I have to have heat tape on the side(and bottom) of all my tubs to keep the ambient temps up, or else the inside of my tubs would only be 73-74 and I like it to be warmer than that.

Could the added heat on the side be causing these problems?

I don't have enough snakes to set them up in a rack, so I just run the sterilite with green latches.

Like Jeo123 said, it has more to do with the temperature differences between inside the tub and outside the tub. You can try using one of those oil filled electric heaters to raise the temperature in the room.

Well, the room is my bedroom haha.

Okay I think I've got one of my tubs almost right. The temps are good and the humidity is at 60% with no condensation so I will see if it keeps going up and ventilate a little more if needed, then work on the other tubs.
