    Zina "hunting/killing" video...

Here is Zina and the way she hunts and kills. She gets a tad excitable !!
Considering she used to be very shy about eating !

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hON0JfVWQsI

Here are 2 pictures of the "aftermath"...

She has taken pre-killed before and I'm going to attempt that again. She is now on medium rats and the bigger the rat, the more I worry. Strangely enough she tried to eat 2 of the pre-killed rats backwards ! That only worked once for her, the other time she gave up.

Fed her live again, and she ate the proper way. Guess only one way to find out if it was just coincidence...

It could be that the pre-k rat wasn't warm enough about the head. I feed f/t and the whole mouse is room temp but if I don't warm up the head enough mine'll try it backwards and sideways before he gets it

Possible, but I gave it to her right after killing and she took it immediately. Perhaps the head cooled first, I don't know...??

I'll try again. Even though she is quite the accomplished killer, she wraps that rodent from head to tail !!

Zina, that's a really neat looking enclosure (what I can see of it...) What is the box in the upper left corner, a light? Heat lamp? Thermostat?

Do you have more detailed pics you could share?

sure, let me see what I can find.
There is normally more "deco" in the cage, but when she hunts and kills everything goes "flying", so I take it out

Its a 4 foot cage from showcase cages.
I really like those cages for how practical and ingenious they are, as well as easy to clean. They maintain heat and humidity perfectly as well, and also are nice for "display"

Here is a link that shows many pics !!
