    UTH on tub lid

    Hi,

I'm housing my 3 month old BP in a sterilite tub and with the cold weather coming up, i'm thinking about ways to raise the ambient temp without having to turn up the house heat (cause of a cost issue with my new roommate).

Is using a UTH on the tub lid safe? I know that it can be put on the side or bottom, but i'm not sure about the top. I ran a quick test and it definitely does a great job in raising the ambient temp, but i was wondering if anyone here has long-term experience with it or has heard anything about it.

EDIT: The idea is that i would use one UTH on the bottom to provide the basking spot and then a larger UTH on the top to provide the constant ambient temp.

Or maybe i should look into getting Flexwatt instead.

    Thanks!
