    Switching to Rats

So at about what age do you typically begin switching to rats? My girl is about 4 months old and just over 200 grams.

When trying to switch a snake over to rats, is there a certain point that you should try to do it by? Or is it pretty much just as hard no matter when you make the change?

    Re: Switching to Rats

Your snake can begin eating rats right now. I would offer a rat pup to your snake. A lot of people start their snakes off on rats from the very beginning. What are you currently offering to your snake? Sometimes it can be a little tricky to get a snake converted to rats but being that your snake is still so young you have a pretty good chance. Are you feeding live or f/t? I'm sure someone with a little bit more experience then myself will also help you out here.

Currently it's a weanling mouse every 3-5 days though it's pretty much just using up the last of them at this point. Since she can take bigger now. I'm using frozen and so far I've never run into any issues with feeding(she usually strikes within seconds).

Very good! You should be able to do the frozen rat pups then without any issues.

Mine just made his switch a week ago today. Although I will not attempt a feed this week, since he just made the move to tubs 3 days ago.

Also, it took a 3 week fast for him to switch, but he took it greedily!
