The first time I saw a Pastel Crystal I just about died. It is definitely the most beautiful BP in existance. I am not sure if the Special gene has made it into Canada yet?

I am thinking of getting a special this year. Dont know a whole lot about them though. Do they have the same effect on Lesser/butter as they do Mojos? Also have they shown any other crazy mutations in other morphs yet? Also what visually identifies a special. Sorry for all the questions but I am really considering one this year. Was actually gonna email Bill Buchman but I figure since we got Pat on the line here why not! Any insight would be very appreciated

Congratulations Pat and Lydia, you guys are turning a big corner with that bad boy. Is the girl you got from me up to size for him? I hope so; I look forward to seeing some Pastel Crystals from you soon.

It has been done with a Lesser, but as far as I know it is a DIFFERENT line of specials that made the Lesser Crystal. Tom Baker has made a few other Codom "Specials" and have sprinkled them throughout some members here. LOL no worries on the questions. Wish more people knew about them.

    Pat,

Can you tell me what visually seperates a special from other more subtle morphs? Also do you know if the special does anything visual to other morphs? For example if you hit on a combo is it obvious? LOL.....Not trying to hijack your thread. Feel free to email me if you would like.....flatlin467@aol.com

    Re: I've Been Holding Out

Pat, your boy is looking FINE!! And, I am still alive... so far the adolescents have not got over on me!

Info of what I have been doing for those who may be interested in what I believe to be an UNDERVALUED/UNDERRATED gene!! As I have mentioned in other threads, I am breeding my 08 Baker line Special to some Butters, a couple Mojaves, a Pastel, and a Cajun Butter.

All my Butter stuff is big but young at 2 1/2 years -- none have gone yet. I have produced quite a few Specials and a pair of Special Cinnys. The male is a chow-hound who is approaching 900 grams and will be paired with some codom stuff this coming season.

Tom Baker has made most of the Special combos of merit and will no doubt make some new stuff in 2011.

It should go without saying that a Caramel Crystal and a Caramel Savannah Special are at the top of my "to do" list -- I have not quite figured out how I am going to go about it yet??? There are really no short-cuts with recessives. I will post anything new I produce. It is a unique gene with so much yet to make!!

As far as the Special standing out from others....I believe it does. It is subtle, but there.
