How much can I handle my boa?

I want him to get used to me and being handled. I bought him from the reptile store here and I'm thinking he wasn't handled much. When I open his cage and go to grab him, he tries to get away and squirms. I handled him today for about 10 mins.

Always allow them to settle in for a week or two and make sure you get them to eat a couple meals before heavy handling.

I check in on my hatchling ball python every day, check his tub for poop and hold him for a couple minutes since he is still pretty head shy. I've had him since June 2nd and made sure he had at least 4 feedings before holding him a lot. The most I hold him is once a week for over 15 minutes. And I just turn on my heating blanket and let him "nap" in it on my lap.

Thanks, very helpful, he has ate one and Iv had him for a week so I will wait till he eats a few more meals. I will just stick to handling him once a week or so.
